Migrants

CHILD SAFEGUARDING: (select only one)

Level 3: the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g.

once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.


ROLE PURPOSE:

This position will be responsible for ensuring that Save the Children Child Protection Case Management process is effectively applied and meets save the children child protection case management standards operating procedures. Besides assisting the Case Management officer in providing on-going support for caseworkers to ensure the overall quality of the case management process.

Projects Scope:

This project aims at providing protection and case management services for children in Greater Cairo . The project will directly support the children in their protection needs establishing a tailored, timely and integrated case management system in addition to supporting local communities to strengthen the community-based protection mechanisms through the Community Mentorship Program.


SCOPE OF ROLE:

Reports to: Senior child protection Officer

Staff who are in close working with this position: 6 caseworkers.


KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

Project Implementation:

  • Accountable for maintaining SCI case management referrals and strengthen SCI referral mechanisms with the donor and partner organizations;
  • Accountable for referring emergency, urgent and normal cases to the appropriate service providers as per the agreed referral pathways and mechanisms.
  • Accountable for monitoring and following up on SCI case management reporting system to ensure that data are up to date.
  • Accountable for handling the appointment system for all caseworkers ensuring timely schedule and fair distribution of workload on caseworkers in coordination with CP Sir.Officer.
  • Conduct interviews when needed with high-risk children for the purpose of Best Interest Assessment or Determination.
  • Support officer in reviewing the Best Interest Assessments drafted by caseworkers.
  • Lead on interpreters’ schedules, preparation of time sheets and follow up besides directly managing between 1-2 interpreters.
  • Actively participate in the Case Management internal coordination meetings lead by the CP TA.
  • Participate in the monthly case conference held at UNHCR.
  • Regularly attend the Safeguarding internal meetings with the Country Safeguard focal point and act as the project focal point for the safeguarding aspect to conduct risk assessments when necessary for all of the Case Management related activities.
  • Maintain good relations with all project partners and participate in working groups, meetings and events.

  • Regularly update the Sir. Officer on progress, obstacles and developments; and proactively suggest improvements to plans if necessary.
  • Assists in carrying out any other necessary tasks in support to the case management team.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Accountable for ensuring proper data gathering and data accuracy ensuring that the project CM data base is regularly up to date. Regularly update the project Case Management Component tracker.
  • Accountable for compiling concise quantitative and qualitative reports on a monthly and quarterly basis from other SCI CM teams.
  • Regularly updating RAIS online database with all assessments conducted, assistance given and making referrals on the system.

Capacity Building:

  • Assist the CP Sir. Officer in providing technical support to SCI caseworkers and support in capacity building for SCI staff, volunteers and external partners.
  • Accountable for coaching and building the capacity of the Interpreters’ team.

In case of Emergency:

  • Promote childrens rights, contributing to their well-being and protection in times of emergencies, guided by humanitarian principles and code of conduct.
  • During emergencies, he/she should act in a way that facilitates SCI’s response to emergencies, giving priority to all assigned.
  • Be prepared to support SCI interventions in response to emergencies and show needed flexibility

General:

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Psychology, Sociology, Development, Political Science, related studies
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in development/humanitarian aid; previous experience in child protection programming is a must.
  • Previous experience in child protection case management is a must.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Excellent drafting, interpersonal, interviewing and communication skills
  • Leadership experience at a similar job
  • Proficiency in Arabic and English, written and spoken is a must.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with highly vulnerable groups
  • Awareness about the security context and political situation in Egypt for refugees
  • Able to work effectively within a team and/or individually
  • Well organised with strong time-management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Shares Save the Children’s vision and values
