Job Purpose:

Responsible for heading the section in charge of obtaining the best purchase deals for the company within the company policies and procedures

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Verify and check requisitions to determine the best deal for the company
  • Meet with various vendors to obtain information about products and services like prices, availability and delivery schedules
  • Examine and tests items prior to making purchase selections
  • Use knowledge of the market to determine whether or not the product has a good value for the company
  • Determine the purchase method such as direct buy, a public bid or a request for proposal to selected vendors
  • Prepare requests for proposals, bid requests and purchase orders
  • Review bids and proposals and meets with vendors to negotiate contracts that meet the company’s budgetary limitations
  • Procure goods and services for a company like supplies, parts, equipment, tools, raw materials, various services and other things necessary for the operation and production
  • Maintain electronic or hard copy records of all purchases made for the company including the cost, delivery details, quality or the product or service and current inventories
  • Contribute with quality control personnel to discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services and meets with vendors to resolve such problems
  • Approve invoices for payment
  • Appraise performance PMS of own team
  • Head and coach the purchasing team
  • Fulfill any additional tasks when required

Job Skills and Abilities:

  • Good English language
  • Very good computer skills especially in office applications such as (Work and Excel, Access)
  • SAP Awareness will be an asset
  • Self motivated, Decision maker, and accurate
  • Very good communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • High negotiation skills

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree from any discipline preferable engineering

- 10 - 15 years of experience

  • Good technical background
